Sanoma acquires Essener, the leading Dutch educational publisher in social sciences
Sanoma acquires Essener, the leading Dutch publisher of blended learning methods for social sciences, from its founders. Essener offers five different blended, ie. digital and printed, learning methods in social sciences, which is a mandatory subject in secondary education in the Netherlands. In 2018, Essener’s net sales were EUR 3 million.
Essener’s product offering complements Sanoma’s current product portfolio for secondary education in the Netherlands, and the teachers, schools and pupils will benefit from the harmonized digital offering of Sanoma’s Dutch learning subsidiary Malmberg and Essener. In addition, the integration of the two companies supports the launch of a new learning method in citizenship for vocational education from 2020 onwards.
Essener will be reported as part of Sanoma Learning SBU.
